Machined Chair

School Project

For our Manufacturing Processes class, we had to design a chair each week. Each chair would have to be made with a different manufacturing process. These projects allowed for us to go beyond just designing, but designing with purpose and with keeping in mind how to design to fit a certain manufacturing process. DFM is most important to be knowledgeable about because it helps avoid potential problems and allows for the design to be accurate. Each manufacturing process comes with its own rules and guidelines, and a great designer is able to understand those.
